sproe.ch provides AI-powered Swiss German translation and text-to-speech (TTS) services. The Service is currently in a soft launch phase, offered free of charge for validation and product-market fit testing.
2.1 User Tiers
Guest Tier: Limited access without account registration
Free Tier: Enhanced access for registered users (requires email authentication)
Future Paid Tiers: Premium features may be introduced (you will be notified before any monetization)
2.2 Service Availability
We provide the Service on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and the Service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without prior notice during this soft launch phase.
3. AI Translation Disclaimer
⚠️ IMPORTANT: All translations are generated by artificial intelligence (AI) and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or culturally inappropriate content.
Not for Critical Use: Do NOT rely on translations for legal, medical, safety-critical, or professional purposes
No Accuracy Guarantee: We make no warranties regarding translation quality, dialect accuracy, or cultural appropriateness
Validation Required: Always verify translations with a native speaker or professional translator for important use cases
Dialect Variation: Swiss German dialects vary significantly; accuracy may differ across regions
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
Own Content Rights: You warrant that you own or have rights to any content you submit for translation
Lawful Use: Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws
No Abuse: Not engage in scraping, automated access, reverse engineering, or API exploitation
Accurate Information: Provide accurate email and account information
Acceptable Content: Not submit content that is illegal, offensive, defamatory, or violates third-party rights
5. Acceptable Use Policy
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
Automated scraping or mass data extraction
Attempting to reverse engineer the translation models or APIs
Using the Service to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content
Circumventing usage quotas or rate limits
Accessing other users' data or accounts
Interfering with Service infrastructure or security measures
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you submit. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content for translation, TTS, and quality improvement purposes.
6.2 Our Content
The Service, including its design, code, branding, and features, is owned by sproe.ch and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. Unauthorized copying or distribution is prohibited.
6.3 Translation Outputs
AI-generated translation outputs are provided to you for your use, but we make no claims of copyright ownership. However, you acknowledge that translations may not be unique and similar outputs may be generated for other users.
7. Data Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which complies with GDPR (EU) and revFADP (Switzerland).
Key points:
Translations are processed by third-party AI providers (Google)
TTS audio is generated via Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services
Translation quality is monitored via Langfuse (Oracle Cloud, Swiss-hosted)
User data is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud, Swiss region)
Translations are retained for 30 days for quality review, then deleted
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
No Warranty: The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
No Liability for Damages: We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service
Limitation Amount: Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (currently zero during the free soft launch phase)
Translation Errors: We are not responsible for any losses or damages resulting from translation inaccuracies
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless sproe.ch, its operator, and service providers from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
10. Account Termination
10.1 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.
10.2 Termination by Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for:
Violation of these Terms or Acceptable Use Policy
Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
Excessive usage that impacts Service availability for other users
Non-payment (if paid tiers are introduced in the future)
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, or the competent Swiss federal court.
For EU residents: You retain the right to bring disputes in your local courts under GDPR and EU consumer protection laws.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
14. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

Free tier: EU Azure regions (community capacity)
